It’s been a long while since the fans had been waiting to see a major showdown of Bardock, the father of Goku. Known to live during an era when Frieza had no possible rival, Bardock became the only fighter who dared to challenge the intergalactic tyrant to a battle. Goku’s father died a noble death while doing his best to take down Frieza.
Bardock was introduced in early Dragon Ball Z while appearing only in flashbacks. The Saiyan couldn’t stand Frieza’s reign anymore and decided to take him on. Although the father of Goku lost that battle, he achieved something that will prove to be crucial a few decades in the future. Goku became the savior and defender of the Earth multiple times. Bardock sent his son to Earth, and he was already foreseeing a great future for him.
Will Bardock get a special role in the Dragon Ball Super manga?
Bardock seems to have a more important role than before in the manga version of Dragon Ball Super. While Goku and Vegeta were struggling against Granolah, Bardock was mentioned several times as a fighter who lend the bounty hunter’s mother a helping hand in order to escape from a very evil threat.
Otherwise, Bardock is still dead in Dragon Ball, and he has always been that way since he only appeared in flashbacks. But it seems that the stage might be getting set for his comeback. Check this out:

Throughout its long history, Dragon Ball has always found a way to bring characters back from the dead. It didn’t even matter if they’re good or evil. Therefore, it might happen again.
For those who don’t know, Bardock has pretty much the same wild haircut as Goku. Even Frieza remarked on the striking resemblance between the two Saiyans during his battle with Goku, saying “you look just like your father”.
