A PS4 or PS5 Jailbreak is still years away, but news of a Blu-Ray assault that affects both systems from TheFloW has clearly fired up the community. The moment has come for everyone to be reminded to be cool and not act too quickly!
The current state of the PS4/PS5 jailbreak
PS4s with firmware up to 9.00 can presently be Jailbroken. The PS5 has yet to be publicly Jailbroken.
Hacker TheFloW has revealed vulnerabilities affecting the PS4 and PS5, respectively, up to Firmware 9.04 and 4.51, respectively. Reminding everyone that these disclosures do not contain any proof of concept code, or even if they did, no Kernel exploit would be included as part of the process of a Jailbreak would be prudent. The Jailbreak for any console is still a long way off, despite the fact that progress is being made. In a nutshell, the advice for PS5 Jailbreak is: Patience
Most contemporary Jailbreaks work on older firmware, and seldom on the newest. The current opinion appears to be that there is “hope” for PS4 9.03/9.04 and PS5 4.03 at the moment. The lower the firmware, the easier it is to update to a higher one, and the more difficult it is to downgrade.
If you want to get a Jailbreak on your device, you need to remain on the same firmware as much as possible. However unlikely it may seem at first, you’re enhancing your chances of getting included in the following edition. If you want a Jailbreak, you should never upgrade your console. It would be necessary for many of us to possess two consoles: one for ordinary gaming and the other for Jailbreaks and other illicit activities. Whether or if you are able to do so is entirely up to you.
It is also important to keep an eye out for fake PS4 and PS5 Jailbreaks and only trust reliable sources.
