After many rumors, the confirmation is finally here – a Silent Hill 2 remake is on its way!
As fans know all too well, this is a classic and still manages to be part of “best horror games of all time” lists so it makes complete sense that it’s been selected for a remake!
The beloved game will be recreated fully from the ground up to be played using the latest generation hardware, taking the experience of playing it to the next level!
Of course, the exciting news comes with some apprehension as well as far as gamers are concerned.
This is because, usually, remakes are not only about providing a brand new graphics overhaul.
In reality, they can mean many different things and the dedicated fan base cannot help but wonder what other changes will be made to the original they love and respect so much.
Other than that, the release date, or even the window of time it should be expected, have not been announced.
This usually means the developers are still not sure when production will be finished so it’s safe to say we’ll have to wait for at least one more year to play the remake!
It has been revealed to be a current generation exclusive and a PlayStation 5 exclusive but PC players will also get to play the game on launch day.
This means that Xbox users will need to wait for the exclusivity deal to run out which could take between 6 months and a year.

Thanks to a PlayStation Blog post with the Konami producer, Motoi Okamoto, we also know that the original composer and the original creature designer are part of the team once again, which is great news for those hesitant about the changes possibly made for the remake.
Furthermore, the Bloober Team promises that their main goal is to “preserve the atmosphere that made Silent Hill 2 exceptional while also modernizing many aspects of the overall gameplay.”
