In a meeting that took place in Germany one month ago, Tim Cook revealed in confidence to a number of people that Apple will soon begin sourcing chips produced in the United States. During an event that took place in Arizona today, Tim Cook gave a public confirmation that Apple will be using processors that are made in the United States. The chips will be manufactured at a brand new plant that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company owns and operates. Despite the fact that things are just getting started, this factory will be used (TSMC).

Apple’s relationship with TSMC as a manufacturing partner dates back quite a way. According to CNBC, TSMC will be able to manufacture chips with a 3-nanometer and 4-nanometer granularity at its facility in Arizona, which will have two separate locations. The most recent A-series chips from Apple, which can be found in the iPhone and iPad, as well as the M-series chips that are available in the MacBook Pro, are both 5-nanometer.

Apple has made a number of significant changes to its business strategy over the course of the past year. The company has begun experimenting with manufacturing Apple Watches and MacBooks in Vietnam, in addition to moving some of its iPhone production to India. In India, the company also manufactures some of its iPhones. They are awarding incentives totaling $50 billion to businesses who participate in domestic semiconductor research or manufacture.

In the case of Apple, the federal government will contribute to the payment of a portion of the expenditures associated with the Arizona facilities. TSMC has revealed that it will invest a total of $40 billion in the construction of its two plants; the first building is expected to be finished in the year 2024, and the second factory is expected to be finished in the year 2026.
