Super Bowl-Themed ‘God of War Ragnarok’ Ad Released – Check it Out!

Most fans may have missed the Super Bowl-themed commercial that God of War Ragnarok released.

Although the commercial depicts Kratos and Atreus in Glendale, Arizona, it did not actually air during the Super Bowl.

Instead, it was simply shared on the Instagram page of PlayStation Canada. In the commercial, a blizzard that may or may not be linked to Ragnarok causes the Super Bowl to be postponed.

Kratos and Atreus then rush to save the day as a couple of reporters talk about the unusually cold weather.

PlayStation has already teased the God of War Ragnarok Super Bowl commercial with short footage of Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir, being placed in the center of the field.

Given that God of War Ragnarok has already been released and is clearly a success by this point, PlayStation’s teasers about a snowstorm hitting the Super Bowl were met with skepticism.

Despite what fans may have hoped for, it was always going to be an improbable assumption for what really happened with the ad.

The first God of War from 2018 didn’t receive any story DLCs and God of War Ragnarok director Eric Williams previously stated that it was also unlikely the next God of War game would receive DLCs.

While a New Game+ mode could have been announced at the Super Bowl, Santa Monica Studio previously stated that it will be added to the game sometime this year.

As a result, while this potential existed, it would’ve been a very specific announcement to make since it would be targeted at players who already own the game rather than trying to attract those who do not at this point in time.

The most outlandish theory put out was that this would somehow be connected to the God of War TV series that Amazon is developing.

We have only heard that Amazon has ordered the series; we haven’t seen any concept art or heard about any casting announcements for the God of War TV series, but some production updates were shared here and there.
