The System Shock reboot will now be released on May 30, according to a recent statement from developer Nightdive Studios.
The game’s initial release window of March, which was announced earlier this year, has been pushed back by almost two months, however, the game was never given a definite release date for March.
Furthermore, fans will have to just wait until closer to the game’s official release date to check out more of the System Shock remake as the announcement of the delay did not come with any fresh gameplay or trailers.
The game was actually meant to be released in March, but Nightdive recognized in the announcement of the postponement that the optimistic delivery timeframe was “just beyond” the developer’s ability to achieve.
Fans of the 1994 game now have a concrete date to look forward to, at least, which is rather exciting.
In a post on Steam, Nightdive said that “The wait is (nearly) over. The PC version of System Shock – the full fledged remake of the groundbreaking original game from 1994 – will be released on May 30 this year. We had hoped to bring the game to the market by the end of March, but that turned out to be beyond our reach; we’re after all merely human.”
As you may have noticed, the developer stated that the PC version would be released in May.
This means that the game will then be accessible on Steam, GOG, as well as the Epic Games Store, but a console release date is not yet set.
All we currently know is that those releases will take place “in due course” and that further information will be released in the future.
In addition to this System Shock recreation, Nightdive and the streaming service Binge are developing a System Shock TV series, however not much is known about it since it was initially revealed.
