The developers of Genshin Impact have announced the launch date for their next game, Honkai: Star Rail. The PC and mobile versions of the turn-based tactical RPG are scheduled to release on April 26th, with a PlayStation version to follow. Honkai: Star Rail, created by HoYoverse, is a visual feast thanks to its memorable characters and anime-inspired art style.
Set in the same universe as Honkai Impact 3rd, Honkai: Star Rail instead features turn-based combat rather than the open world action seen in Genshin Impact (think Breath of the Wild). The main character in the game has a Stellaron implant, and the plot revolves around his quest to learn the truth about the “Cancer of All Worlds.” The adventure kicks off with a tutorial level on Herta Space Station and continues on to the snowy planet of Jarilo-VI and other unique worlds.
Gacha-based monetization means that players can buy loot boxes for in-game items and characters in the free-to-play game. Honkai: Star Rail has been given a Teen rating, and it can be downloaded directly or through the Epic Games Store on PC, iOS, and Android. There has been no announcement regarding a release window for the PlayStation version.
Honkai: Star Rail offers a fresh take on the tactical RPG genre, which fans of Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd are sure to enjoy. It’s a breath of fresh air in the gaming industry, with its turn-based combat and anime-inspired visuals. It’s unclear how gacha-based monetization, which some players may view negatively, will affect the game as a whole.
Developed by the same team that brought you Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail is an upcoming tactical role-playing game. It has a cast of memorable characters, a turn-based battle system, and an art style reminiscent of anime. Release dates for PC and mobile devices are set for April 26th, with a PlayStation version to follow. The game will use gacha-based monetization.
