The long-rumored AR/VR headset is expected to be unveiled by the tech giant based in Cupertino at the next popular event Worldwide Developers Conference. But there’s a catch. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, it will be a significant step in the company’s attempts to convince investors that it will be sold. What does this mean exactly? Well, let’s try to walk in Apple’s shoes for a bit and understand why it does what it does…
Kuo explained:
Apple’s announcement event is likely the last hope for convincing investors that the AR/MR headset device could have a chance to be the next star product in consumer electronics.
The analyst was also trying to take into consideration forthcoming VR headset sales from Sony and Meta. Kuo strongly believes that there is “insufficient evidence” to suggest that AR/VR gadgets may become the next big deal, given that Sony has decided to cancel its intentions to produce the PS VR2. But on the other hand, the Meta Quest Pro has succeeded in shipping 300,000 units over its product lifespan. Quite impressive, isn’t it?!
What are the chances of finally seeing the Apple VR headset happening?
Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, stated earlier this week that the firm has faced “loads of critics” about everything it has undertaken but has still succeeded. Okay, but we all had our reasons, right?! Cook further explained that he “doesn’t want to put bits of other people’s products together.” Instead, the CEO of Apple wants to “own the main technology” in whatever markets it enters.
What to expect from an Apple VR headset?
According to rumors, the AR/VR headset will come with sleek 4K micro-OLED screens, hundreds of cameras to record the user’s surroundings, a focus communication program, as well as their facial expressions and motions. Other features will turn the gadget into a lightweight, comfortable fit made possible by an external battery.
