The tech giant based in Cupertino has major plans this year, including the new iPhone 15 series, a new iOS 17 version, and other gadgets yet to be discovered. But let’s take everything step by step and start discussing iOS 17 first. There have been already more rumors and reports concerning Apple’s next release of iOS as we get closer to the WDC event. Although some features from iOS 16 aren’t anticipated to return in iOS 17, there are some noteworthy improvements worth our time. Let’s delve into them!
More Dynamic Island Features
Currently, it’s believed that Apple will enhance Dynamic Island’s capabilities to make it more helpful (yay!) For instance, Siri may move to Dynamic Island and interact with us right from there! It would be less intrusive if, when Siri is on, the Siri symbol appeared in the Dynamic Island rather than at the bottom of the screen, don’t you think?
Active Widgets
Although Apple is “testing” an active widget experience for the iPhone’s Home Screen and Today View, iOS 17 may not include this functionality. Why not?! Widgets that are more interactive and perform tasks other than information display or app tap-in would be considered active widgets. So, how will these work? Active widgets might have sliders, one-tap buttons, and other features to make them more dynamic. How cool is that?
Improved CarPlay Experience
A new feature called instrument cluster integration will allow CarPlay to have more control over some aspects of the car, like the speedometer, fuel gauge, odometer, and others. How will it actually work?
Well, it’s kind of an SF thingy! Practically, users won’t need to leave the CarPlay system to change the heat or the air conditioning because vehicle climate controls will be directly accessible via CarPlay. The company also plans to add a number of other sleek widgets that will show information like fuel efficiency, HomeKit devices, trip duration, weather, and more.
Control Center Upgrade
The Control Center could undergo a huge makeover (finally!) and become more user-customizable. That’ll totally allow us to choose what is displayed with greater specificity and where controls are placed for a simplified interface that is suited to each individual’s needs. That’s cool!
Advanced Search
There have been some interesting rumors regarding a better search experience with iOS, but Apple has already tried to organize search results, find text in images and videos, and enable users to look for certain subjects in pictures. Obviously that these features may all see improvements in the future, along with additional search possibilities.
