There are some folks out there who had been willing for WhatsApp to call off its disappearing messages feature. But the Meta-owned instant-messaging app has even enhanced its beloved feature by bringing a new interesting option.
The WhatsApp blog reveals the new implementation of the beloved app, which consists of a new ‘Keep in Chat’ option to make users feel even more comfortable than before. The feature has already landed, so let’s dive into detail!
The new ‘Keep in Chat’ option allows users to hang on to texts the user needs for later
WhatsApp’s official blog explains the new ‘Keep in Chat’ feature in a very reasonable way:
Today we’re introducing “Keep in Chat,” so you can hang on to texts you need for later, with a special superpower for the sender. We believe if you’ve sent the message, it’s your choice whether others in the chat can keep it for later.
To make this work, the sender will be notified when someone keeps a message, and the sender will have the ability to veto the decision. If you’ve decided your message can’t be kept by others, your decision is final, no one else can keep it and the message will be deleted when the timer expires. This way you have the final say on how messages you send are protected.
In other words, you have yet another reason to use the famous instant-messaging app if you haven’t done so already. There will probably never exist a time when you’ll be sent to Coventry for using WhatsApp; as for now, it has over 2 billion users worldwide.
The success of WhatsApp is understandable, as the app offers free of charge video calls and instant messaging apps, the possibility to create groups and find groups based on your hobbies and interest, as well as a lot more.
