The Normandy landings that took place in 1944 during the Second World War represented the largest seaborne invasion in history, as about three million soldiers were implicated. The allied forces, meaning the USA, Canada, Poland, France, and Britain had to battle against Nazi Germany in what is also known as the Overlord Operation or D-Day.
Therefore, it was only a matter of time until developers started to implement the famous WWII confrontations in video games as well. The DSC World, for instance, is a popular military flight simulator that now has the brand new Normandy 2.0 map.

Digital Combat Simulator World (DCS World) 2.8 is a free-to-play digital battlefield game and simulation environment. Our dream is to offer the most authentic and realistic simulation of military aircraft, tanks, ground vehicles and ships possible. This free download includes a vast mission area of the Caucasus region and Black Sea that encompasses much of Georgia. It also includes a flyable Russian Sukhoi Su-25T ground attack aircraft and the famous WWII North American TF-51D fighter. An additional 38 aircraft are available for purchase.
You must keep in mind that if you want to play DSC World on a PC and enjoy the best of what it has to offer, you’ll need a pretty powerful gaming rig. You’ll need of 32GB of RAM, a processor such as an Intel or AMD 4.5Ghz+ with 6 cores, a graphics card that has at least 8GB of VRAM, and 300GB for the available storage space.
If you want VR support, you’ll also need access to SteamVR or Oculus VR.
