The new short film focuses focussing Miles Morales’s biggest fears. The world of the Spider-Verse, including ‘Into the Spider-Verse’ and ‘Across the Spider-Verse,’ has always been highly vast. Besides the big and grand world, Spider-Verse always returns to Miles Morales, a teenager living in NYC.
The Spider-Verse trilogy has shown Miles transforming into Spider-Man on his way, but now the new film shows how this transformation has affected him.
Spider-Verse Short Films Expreses Miles’ Anxiety:
This short film presents Miles with his anxiety confronting the battle between being a typical teenager and Spider-Man.
Jarelle Dampier explained his idea of the film screening with Miles’ fears manifested by a dark figure that represents his alter ego and an imaginary infestation of spiders in his room.
I learned that sleep paralysis and things like that are all tied to this kind of overactive mental state and not being able to control that snowball that happens. When I was asked to direct at Sony, I accepted almost immediately, but that night I had the biggest panic attack I’ve ever had in my life and I spent the night in the hospital. Meanwhile, he added that he didn’t want to introduce a problem to the main character without him dealing with it.
There is no official date for The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story, but Dampier is excited about the possibility of general audiences seeing his work.
