The series, headlined by The Weeknd and Lily Rose-Depp, has been divisive show television since its first appearance on June 4, 2023. Sadly, the show was hardly criticized for “hate-watching.”
Are you wondering about The Idol Season 2?
Here you will find everything you have to know.
According to Page Six, it is unlikely for a second season of The Idol because of the criticism. Based on the report, Abel’s “‘egomaniacal’ behavior on set” and the many controversies surrounding the show’s depiction of sex scenes is the primary reason HBO is considering canceling the show.Sources have said this show was never meant to be a long-running series.
The Idol released two episodes until now, and the series’ future is uncertain. Also, some scenes in the second episode caused losing the respect of fans for the star and co-creator, The Weeknd.
But the question is: Why is The Idol so controversial?
Besides the critics’ reaction, fans were not excited about the stars’ appearance and the show’s perspective. The series follows a pop star Jocelyn (Rose-Depp), who starts her relationship with Tedros (The Weeknd), who is, in reality,
a cult leader. That is all to add about The Idol to avoid the spoilers of the first two episodes and the main idea of the show.
