Dragon Ball debuted way back in the early ’80s, following the adventures of an unusually strong child who’s always up to fight for the right cause. That child is none other than Son Goku, and he will save the Earth numerous times.
Since those times, Dragon Ball has unfolded through numerous manga chapters and animated episodes. So many different versions appeared (Dragon Ball Z/GT/Super, etc.), but Akira Toriyama has been writing the plot for most of them. The writer is now 67 years old, and of course, a time will come when he will no longer provide exciting Dragon Ball-related stories.
Thanks to @DbsHype, we find out that the son of Akira Toriyama, whose name is Sasuke Toriyama, has already been in charge of taking care of some Dragon Ball-related content:

The tweet is obviously speaking about the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie that came out last month in Japan. Sasuke helped his father oversee the story of the new movie. When Akira Toriyama retires, it’s most likely that his son will continue the work for the Dragon Ball franchise.
Last month, after Super Hero’s premiere in Japan, we already found out about Toriyama getting ready for new Dragon Ball projects. This means that there’s no use thinking that the famous writer will be done soon when it comes to the legendary franchise. It’s everybody’s guess at this point what exactly those upcoming Dragon Ball projects may be. However, a logical assumption would be that we’ll see characters like Moro and Granolah finally animated, meaning two fighters presented in the manga that continues the Dragon Ball Super story after the unexpected conclusion from the Tournament of Power arc.
Until we ever hear again about anything linked to Dragon Ball Super, we must know that the Super Dragon Ball Heroes anime is still running and pumping out new episodes.
