Google made the announcement on its Android Feature Drop for winter at the beginning of this month. This drop includes new updates for Google Photos, Android, and Wear OS. As part of the upgrade, Google demonstrated new home screen widgets for YouTube that utilize the Material You design language found in Android. Now that the widget appears to be making its way to users, you will soon be able to begin personalizing your home screen and making use of buttons that provide instant access to YouTube.

If you are someone who wants to jump into material as quickly as possible, the new widgets that YouTube has introduced are very nice. The first option, which is almost certainly the superior of the two, needs a section of your home screen that is at least three squares wide and two rows high. The widget includes a search box that is specific to YouTube, as well as shortcuts to the Home page, Shorts, and Subscriptions. If you are able to stretch the widget out any further, stretching it to a section that is 4 squares by 2 squares, it will display an additional icon that will provide you with immediate access to your personal library.

The second widget, which is merely a search bar for YouTube, takes up an area that is four rows tall and one row wide. Although either choice may be helpful, selecting the extended option is likely to provide you with a greater range of options in the long run. This widget is amazing and can give you simple access whenever you just want to dive into some stuff immediately. If you are a frequent user of YouTube, you should definitely check it out. You will, however, be required to give up part of the available screen real estate in order to do so. If you are interested in using the new widget, you will need to make sure that you have the most recent version of the YouTube app by accessing it from the Google Play Store.

Assuming you have the most recent version of the app and have updated to that, you should be able to use the widgets.
