Mario will be a stranger in a strange place in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which debuts on April 7.
The beloved plumber is suddenly transported to the Mushroom Kingdom, where he faces Bowser’s army.
That being said a new picture for the much anticipated film adaptation has been shared, this one focused on the Mushroom Kingdom and Mario’s outsider point of view.
Illumination Entertainment has already published a number of posters for the film over the last week.
In this new poster, Mario can be seen observing the vast kingdom in front of him while Peach and Toad point at the various landmarks.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie previews have emphasized Mario’s lack of knowledge about the Mushroom Kingdom and Princess Peach’s attempts to explain how things work there to him.
In the second trailer for the movie, the Princess teaches Mario about fire flowers, and in a recent ad, Mario is shown discovering how the Super Bell functions.
Mario appears to be having a hard time with everything in every trailer, but by the end of the film, you can be sure that he’ll have gotten used to everything!
Nintendo’s video games have always been limited on plot, but even so, one thing is certain – Mario has never really been depicted as an outsider in the Mushroom Kingdom.
However, for many years now, it has been widely accepted in the media that Mario and Luigi are not natives of the Mushroom Kingdom.
The first instance may be Super Mario Bros.: The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach!, an anime film from 1986 in which Mario and Luigi are transported to a realm within their Famicom gaming console.
Furthermore, Mario and Luigi also appeared in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show in 1989 as two Brooklyn plumbers who were unintentionally teleported to the Mushroom Kingdom.
And that’s not all! The Super Mario Bros. movie from 1993 also featured a very similar plot in which the two characters were once more taken to the Mushroom Kingdom.
Although this idea hasn’t been used in a while, it is apparent that it served as the inspiration for the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie.
