Coffee can help you wake up in the morning, give you the strength to finish that day and offer various health benefits. Meanwhile, if you use it in abundance, coffee does more harm than good. A new study says drinking two or more cups daily can increase the risk of death.
Read down below for more information about coffee consumption.
What Is The Study About?
The study involved participants who were all between 40 and 79 years old. Participants answered a few questions about their health, lifestyle, and diet during this test. Over 19 years, it was found that 842 participants died from cardiovascular-related causes. While drinking a cup of coffee each day didn’t risk a cardiovascular-related death for those with high blood pressure, drinking more cups had a significantly different outcome.
According to the study’s senior author:
Because people with severe hypertension are more susceptible to the effects of caffeine, caffeine’s harmful effects may outweigh its protective effects and may increase the risk of death.
Find Out More About This Cause
More cups of coffee per day increase blood pressure by up to three hours in specific individuals. When blood pressure rises with severe hypertension, it causes more life-threatening diseases like heart attack, stroke, or aortic aneurysm.
On the other hand, you don’t have to panic and give up on coffee. One cup per day didn’t have the same results for your body. You have to consider that if you have problems with your blood pressure, take it easy with caffeine.
As Michelle Routhenstein said:
This study emphasizes the need to assess all beverages and foods that someone with high blood pressure is consuming in order to optimally manage blood pressure levels.
