After a harsh backlash, the price of the Ark remaster has now increased, and the old servers are still being shut down. Well, they do what they have to do, right?! Or not. Let’s start with the obvious details. So, recently, a few significant developments regarding the Ark series were made by Studio Wildcard. The first is perfectly expected, given that we have seen essentially nothing of Ark 2 up to this point (hard to believe but true). As a result, Ark 2 has been postponed until 2024.
The second announcement, however, caught everyone by surprise. Ark: Survival Evolved will be getting a significant remaster dubbed Ark: Survival Ascended. Also, its servers would be shut down, forcing players to purchase the remaster. The deal is sealed, and I guess you’ve got to accept it. The logical response from Studio Wildcard was to raise the price because fans didn’t seem to enjoy it very much. So, what expect next?!
Practically, Wildcard stated in the release that you had to purchase a package that cost $49.99 and included the future second game if you wanted to play the game on Xbox or PC. The things on the PlayStation 5 are different because you could get simply Survival Ascended for $39.99. Players would also have to spend money on forthcoming expansion packs. Would you really want something like that?! Furthermore, with the exception of Ark 2, Survival Ascended will now cost $59.99 and come with all planned expansions.
Wildcard explained:
We recognize how combining ARK Survival Ascended with ARK 2 and requiring further DLC upgrades wasn’t optimal, especially since you wouldn’t be able to judge ARK 2 as no gameplay or content would be available yet.
The servers for Survival Evolved are scheduled to go down on August 31. Survival Ascended is scheduled for release the same month. Overall, quite a little nasty, but let’s just wait and see what’ll happen next!
