Bella Ramsey has hinted at The Last of Us season 2’s release date. One of the most highly regarded television programs, The Last of Us, will undoubtedly receive numerous nominations (if not awards) during the upcoming award season.
After seeing the phenomenal reception and enormous viewership numbers early in the first season, HBO was fairly quick to realize it had a huge hit on its hands and so, they went ahead and greenlit a second season.
But even before that, given that there is a second game with a substantial amount of story – and a compelling one at that – fans assumed that there would be a second season as long as the show was at least good.
But we have no idea whatsoever when it will be released.
It’s a lengthy process; the first season took a while to go from announcement to release and was filmed for about a year.
Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie, stated during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show that they expect to begin filming season 2 later this year and that they anticipate it won’t air until the end of 2024 or early 2025.
Although this is the first concrete hint we are getting of a release date, it is consistent with Pedro Pascal’s prediction that the second season will start filming later this year as well.
Ramsey said that “It will be a while. I think we will probably shoot at the end of this year, beginning of next. So it will probably be the end of 2024, early 2025.”
This will result in a long, difficult wait for the fans.
Of course, if you’re that impatient, the second game is already out and playable on the PS4 and PS5.
On YouTube, you could also just watch someone else play the second game.
In other words, if you feel like you really can’t wait, there are lots of options available, but if you want to enjoy it without spoilers when it comes out, the wait will probably be agonizing.
