BTS’s agency, BigHit Music has announced on Weverse that due to the progress of the Covid-19 pandemic, they will cancel the ‘MAP OF THE SOUL’ tour. The news is not shocking because the concerts were already postponed for a year. However, ARMYs must be quite sad. Everyone was hoping this August, BTS would be able to perform their international tour in 38 countries. The agency states that the cancellation is just temporary. This means that once things improve, the South Korean brand might start the tour.
Fans can get a refund
The announcement explains that those who already bought tickets for the concerts, mainly from Seoul and North America, can ask for a refund. ARMYs from Europe and Japan did not have a chance to purchase tickets because the concerts had already been postponed due to the pandemic. Unfortunately, it seems this summer we will not get to see the band perform live concerts. The agency announced that they are already working on a new performance format and schedule. This might mean that the dates and places of the tour might be changed, but there might still be chances for a concert in 2021 or 2022.
The Covid-19 pandemic seems endless
The Delta variant has already spread worldwide, and the number of daily cases is surging everywhere. Many countries such as Israel, Chile or the U.S are starting to administer booster shots to those immunocompromised. Those under 12 cannot get vaccinated yet. Many states in the U.S have announced the hospital system is overwhelmed. Studies also show that the available Covid-19 vaccine is less effective on the Delta strain than other variants such as Alpha. Hopefully, things improve soon to all enjoy BTS’s ‘MAP OF THE SOUL’ tour and many other projects that have been postponed.
