The developers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Infinity Ward, and Activision Blizzard have provided information regarding the launch of the Spec Ops mode and the unnamed Raid mode. On October 28, the launch date of Modern Warfare 2, players will be able to access Spec Ops and choose from one of three available missions. Bad Situation is a stealth-focused level about collecting intel, Vehicle Escape has you operating a car to attack SAM turrets, and Observatory Defense is simply a survival mode where you can invest money among waves to gain better gear. All three of these missions are available in the game.
It would appear that these covert operations were planned with a high level of payback in mind. As a part of that, you will be able to gain stars through completing missions and “mission-related objectives” in order to level up a series of kits, which are comparable to sets of perks, field upgrades, and killstreaks in the multiplayer mode, in order to obtain better gear. On the official website, you will find additional information that explains in greater detail how it functions.
Raids will be playable in the Spec Ops mode, with the debut of the first raid scheduled for December 14 of this year. We, along with you, are probably wondering exactly what the Raids will be like when they are released. Between rounds of furious fighting, the developers have stated that the mode will test players’ ability to work together and solve strategic puzzles, but other than that, we don’t know much about it. Before the release of Raids on December 14, the developers strongly advise finishing all three Special Ops missions with three stars and having at least one kit leveled up to Rank 5 in order to prepare for the new content.
The Modern Warfare 2 campaign preloads will begin on October 19, one day before early access for pre-order customers will become available on October 20. On October 28, the whole version of Modern Warfare 2, including Spec Ops and multiplayer, will be released.
