Russell informed the police that the female abductor had given her cheese crackers and had also toyed with her hair while she was held captive. Russell awoke the next day and related her ordeal to the authorities. The investigators found a rip in her blouse as well as a minor cut on her mouth, and they reported that she possessed $107 in cash stashed away in her right sock.
