The Grand Theft Auto 6 game is reportedly far more ambitious than past speculations have suggested. Previous speculations have stated that it would take place mostly in Vice City, which is the series’ fictitious version of Miami. Industry insider and analyst Michael Pachter, on the other hand, claims that GTA 6 is set not just in Vice City, but also in Liberty City (New York City), San Andreas (San Francisco), and the European Union. Despite the fact that Pachter does not specifically identify Los Santos (Los Angeles), the city is very certainly included in the mix. What Pachter does mention is that the game will take between 400 and 500 hours to complete.
Since 2014, developers have started working on GTA 6. Even though they weren’t writing code at the time since they were still thinking out the narrative, they were writing code by 2015. He also added that we would be foolish to think that Rockstar did not start developing the game a while ago and that these people are working hard to develop excellent stuff, but GTA 6 will take at least ten years to complete.
“It’ll probably be literally a four or five-hundred-hour game by the time they get it out. That’s what they are doing now, that’s what they’ve turned GTA 6 into. I get it because they’re like, we’re gonna charge you 60 bucks, and then we’re going to give you an online experience and you’re going to have to carry drugs from London to LA, you’re going to have to go through the port in Miami. They’re going to do all this really cool stuff,” he added.
If this seems to be a lofty goal, it is because it is. If this is accurate, it would make GTA 6 the most complex game ever created by a single developer. However, as per Pachter, this is the reason why the development is taking so long. Under a statement, Pachter said that it has been in production since 2014 and that it might be released as early as 2024.
Pachter is an analyst who, occasionally, shares different leaks and inside knowledge with his followers. Having said that, it’s uncertain how much of this is based on actual reports and how much is pure guesswork. Whatever the case, everything presented here should be taken with a grain of salt.
