Goku and Vegeta are once again preparing to save the world from new threats as the Budokai Tenkaichi series will be revived in 2024 with a brand-new game. It will be called Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO, and it will feature characters and transformations from both Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super. Who would have thought that after a hiatus of 17 years, the Budokai Tenkaichi series would receive a brand-new game?
Even though we do not know yet exactly when the new game will be released, we can expect it to happen in the next few weeks. There is a lot of exciting stuff happening in the Budokai Tenkaichi series, as we are talking about a series of video games that is extremely beloved among Dragon Ball fans.
But what exactly can we expect from Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO, except for devastating blasts, cosmic transformation, as well as lots of tense moments? Let’s find out together!
More characters
The last game of the series, meaning Budokai Tenkaichi 3, had an impressive number of characters in the roster of fighters. But since that game came out back in 2007, many more new characters appeared in the Dragon Ball universe thanks to the Dragon Ball Super anime and manga. Therefore, it would be reasonable to have characters such as Hit, Kefla, Toppo, Jiren, and Moro in the Dragon Ball Sparking ZERO video game. If we look back at the Dragon Ball Super anime and the Tournament of Power Arc, it has amazed us all with numerous new characters from different universes. This means that the arc in question can be a major source of inspiration for the developers behind Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO. Who knows, maybe we will even get to see angels and gods of destruction in the new game as well, just like in the anime – they are not willing to fight, but even so, they have crucial role in the Dragon Ball universe.
More techniques
The Budokai Tenkaichi game series was teeming with fighting techniques for most of the fighters, but it wasn’t enough all the time. Some fighters don’t have their original fighting moves, as the developers needed to come up with some unexpected ones. Let’s keep in mind the fact that the Dragon Ball Super anime has brought a lot of new interesting content to the franchise, including new fighting techniques. This can only mean one thing: The upcoming Dragon Ball Sparking Zero video game has a lot of sources of inspiration. We can expect Goku to go Ultra Instinct and Vegeta to activate the Ultra Ego transformation, for instance. The possibilities are endless.
Battle Royale
The concept of battle royale has been significantly popularized in the video game industry in recent years due to titles such as Fortnite, PUBG, and others. We even had entire battle royale tournaments in Dragon Ball Super, back in the Tournament of Power arc that ended in March 2018. Considering that there is no trace of battle royale in the Budokai Tenkaichi series, it would be very nice for the developers to add some in the upcoming Dragon Ball Sparking Zero video game. For those unaware of what battle royale means, the idea is simple: Everybody fights against everybody, and the winner will be the last fighter standing.
We can expect Dragon Ball Sparking Zero to be available for both PC gamers and all the major consoles, such as PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
