Vegeta just got a brand new transformation while battling Granolah in the Dragon Ball Super manga. The Saiyan Prince became more powerful than ever when a lot of people were expecting him to throw the towel. You know, just like in the classic Dragon Ball way!
The moniker “Ultra Ego” might sound bad for some fans, but the design itself looks great, and no one can deny it! Vegeta’s updated purple hair and the disappearance of eyebrows grant a modern-like design. A lot of fans were craving for a new transformation of the Saiyan Prince since he was one step behind Goku’s Ultra Instinct form, and the creators of Dragon Ball Super have once again thought about their demands.
Ultra Ego Vegeta or Ultra Instinct Goku? Who would win?
Probably at some point in the future of Dragon Ball, we’ll get the privilege to see an Ultra Ego Vegeta vs. Ultra Instinct Goku confrontation. Such a battle is just imminent, as it was between the two Saiyans not too long after they both became Super Saiyans back in the old days of the Dragon Ball Z anime.
However, Goku and Vegeta are light-years stronger now, and we already have plenty of data for making assumptions about a rematch. But first, let’s remind ourselves about how the two warriors achieved their new forms.
The battle for the Universe against Jiren
Goku first achieved his Ultra Instinct form against Jiren in the Tournament of Power from the Dragon Ball Super anime. Although the characters had to fight with all they’ve got, Jiren wasn’t exactly an evil character. He was just fighting for the survival of his own universe, as Goku did. The Saiyan achieved the Ultra Instinct form as a result of having no other option left and realizing that unless he does something quick, he’s done for. However, Goku’s long history of fighting and training with Beerus and Whis also counted.
Ultra Ego exploits the Saiyans’ desire to improve after taking damage
Vegeta was down for the count in his battle against Granolah. The Saiyan Prince used his Super Saiyan Blue Evolved form against his opponent, and although he was performing pretty well until one point, Vegeta still became helpless. But suddenly, having apparently no other way of winning, Vegeta was able to summon the gods’ power of destruction manifested through his new Ultra Ego form. Later on, Granolah became overwhelmed by Vegeta’s strength.
We’re betting on a draw
It’s impossible to tell for sure if Vegeta finally managed to surpass his long rival Goku. Both fighters are incredibly powerful in their ultimate forms that we’ve spoken about here, although Vegeta could have a little upper hand. The Prince of all Saiyans, during his Ultra Ego form, performed better against Granolah than Goku did while pumped up at Ultra Instinct level.
But on the other hand, Vegeta still cannot trigger Ultra Ego at will, while Goku is able to transform in his Ultra Instinct state anytime he wants. However, Goku needed a lot of time to be able to control the transformation. The chances are great for Vegeta to also be able to go Ultra Ego level anytime he needs in the future, but until that moment, Goku has an advantage. Vegeta needs to be beaten down pretty badly in order to go Ultra Ego, which is a nice tribute to the Zenkai boosts that are frequently mentioned in Dragon Ball Z.
Therefore, Goku and Vegeta are likely still pretty much even in strength.
We just can’t wait to see Vegeta’s new Ultra Ego form animated when the Dragon Ball Super anime finally returns to the screens. According to unofficial sources, the Season 2 of the anime will likely start in 2023.
