Chikashi Kubota is the animation director for the 2022 movie ‘Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero,’ and he now expresses interest in rebooting the original Dragon Ball series. If the information is true, it means that Goku as a kid, will go through many different adventures than he did while searching for the dragon balls and training for the Martial Arts Tournament.
The exciting news is brought by Sportskeeda, and it gives the chance for many fans to speculate. However, Kubota might talk about Dragon Ball Z as well, which is another reason to be hyped. Any Dragon Ball fan out there needs to admit that Dragon Ball Z had its period when the animation was poor and that alone should be a reason strong enough to consider a reboot of the series.
A new storyline?
The animation director who plans to reboot Dragon Ball also considers adding a new storyline. This would indeed be an interesting idea, although it’s not clear at this point if the original story will be altered. Hopefully, the new addition will represent a parallel story set in a parallel universe.
Throughout Dragon Ball history, the franchise is well-known for introducing time-space gimmicks such as time travel, parallel universes, and the Multiverse. This means that the show always has a door open for new storylines without affecting the original ones. Let’s consider, for instance, Trunks’ time travel that took place back in Dragon Ball Z, when he chose to go back into the past using a time machine in order to warn his friends and family about the upcoming arrivals of the androids created by Dr. Gero.
Later on in the Dragon Ball Super series, it was not only Trunks who engaged in time travel gimmicks. Goku, Vegeta, and the others from the gang did it as well in order to save the future timeline of Trunks from the terror of the evil deity Zamasu and Goku Black.
