Dragon Ball is back in business once again, and not only through its manga version. This time, the legendary franchise will come back as an animated movie that will continue the story long after the Tournament of Power from the Dragon Ball Super anime.
For 2022, the new movie known as “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero” will air in April in Japan for the first time. It will show the revival from the ashes of the Red Ribbon Army, an evil organization that was partially destroyed by Goku when he was just a child. We’ve seen it again in the Cell Saga from Dragon Ball Z, and once again, the organization is up to no good.
As it happened before, the Red Ribbon Army will create new powerful androids to terrorize the Earth. Of course, the Z warriors will be there to stop their plans. But these new androids will be significantly stronger than the ones from DBZ, as they’ll be created by a new scientist from the evil organization.
Executive Akio Iyoku speaks out
ComicBook.com reveals that executive Akio Iyoku brought some precious details about the movie during an interview. Since everybody is eager to find out more about the new androids, he didn’t neglect this aspect.
Iyoku reveals that the androids known as Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 aren’t created by Dr. Gero, the one who created the last series of androids from DBZ, including Cell. That scientist has been killed. Instead, Dr. Hedo is the new scientist in charge of creating androids powerful enough to compete with the godly powers of Goku and the gang. CG animation will take care of the animation part of the movie.
Iyoku also revealed that Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero will give good characters the chance to make it out without the help of Goku and Vegeta. Instead, Gohan and Piccolo will be under the spotlight this time.
