It is safe to say that after Elon Musk decided to buy Twitter, the company has gone through some extreme changes in such a short period of time!
As you are probably well aware at this point, over the past several weeks, almost half of Twitter’s employees have been laid off to better fit the billionaire’s vision of completely restructuring its whole revenue model.
Elon Musk started this process with some changes in mind including unbanning some of the people he believed may have been wrongfully banned as well as reducing the number of bots on the popular social media site.
Naturally, however, a lot of his plans did not turn out as expected and the changes have been met with plenty of criticism from users.
This includes his relaunch of Twitter Blue and several last minute policy changes that include the rather vague policy regarding the use of Twitter for the promotion of other third party platforms.
In the aftermath of the masses’ indignation at what has been happening to Twitter under his leadership, Musk announced his decision to start holding Twitter polls in order to involve users in all future policy changes.
Funnily enough, the poll that followed was rather unexpected as it asked users to decide whether he should continue being the CEO of Twitter or if he should step down from this position.
And so, the people have spoken! After more than 17 million people participated in the poll, the results showed that 57.5 percent of them want Musk to step down while the remaining 42.5 percent would rather have him continue leading the company.
Of course, the results were not surprising and they are also not the only sign pointing toward his departure from Twitter.
After all, Tesla’s stock has also dropped over 60 percent YoY since the whole automobile industry is on the decline as a result of the COVID-19 lockdowns and the work from home trend growing.
Furthermore, analyst Dan Ives believes that the changes Musk has brought to Twitter might cost the social media platform no less than $4 billion!
So who will take over? Well, after a tweet that suggested there was a new CEO already lined up, Elon Musk responded that “There is no successor.”
This may be the case for now but only time will tell!
In the meantime, controversy continues to follow the mogul who has suspended the accounts of several journalists after an interaction he did not enjoy.
Apparently, Musk joined a discussion on Twitter Spaces with the journalists and when some of their questions stumped him, he quickly exited the conversation before seemingly getting their accounts suspended.
