According to Elon Musk, the AI is set to overtake human intelligence in 2025. Here’s what the tech mogul said about the matter.
Elon Musk on AI vs humans
According to The Guardian, Elon Musk has made a prediction that superhuman artificial intelligence, which is smarter than any individual on Earth, could be developed as soon as next year, unless the computing power and energy demands required for its creation become unsustainable before that.
This is a more assertive statement than his previous claim that superintelligent AI would be developed by 2029.
While “superhuman” refers to AI that is smarter than any specific human at a particular task, “superintelligent” AI refers to artificial intelligence that is smarter than every human being combined at any given task.

“My guess is that we’ll have AI that is smarter than any one human probably around the end of next year,” Musk said in a livestreamed interview on his social network X.
There is a possibility that the increasing demand for power and limited availability of the most powerful AI training chips could hinder their capability, which is something to keep in mind.
“Last year it was chip-constrained,” he said.
“People could not get enough Nvidia chips. This year it’s transitioning to a voltage transformer supply. In a year or two, it’s just electricity supply.”
