Shrek 5 is the most awaited movie franchise from Dreamworks. The original movie was released in 2001. Since then, the green ogre has had three more mainline entries from DreamWorks Animation. The last main Shrek movie was released in 2010, Shrek Forever After. Rumors have been around for years now.

Shrek 5 Release Date
There is no official release date, but it was set to be released in 2020. Some reports have claimed the movie will be released in May 2023, which is false as the studio has yet to confirm or even hint. It can be released in 2024 or 2025.
Another character from Shrek is back, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, and appeared on December 21, 2022.
Here is what Antonio Banderas said:
I’ve been with this cat for almost 20 years. The first time I did Puss In Boots, I was working on Broadway, so I did my first session there. I’ve done five movies now. There is probably gonna be another, and Shrek is probably coming back.

In the meantime, there hasn’t been an official cast revealed, but the four characters will be reprising their roles come the fifth movie.

Michael McCullers, the famous screenwriter who was supposed to write Shrek 5, said that the movie would be a reinvention. He also added:
There’s been four movies and a lot of material, so the characters are pretty beloved and they’re great characters, but you also have to think of a pretty new take at that point.
