For many people, Facebook Watch is the main source of videos from various fields, such as news, entertainment, sports, and more. Running the app on larger displays seems like an even better deal. Many have been using it via Apple TV.
But due to a new decision, Meta has discontinued the Facebook Watch app for tvOS, which results in a clear and undeniable outcome: Apple TV users won’t have access to Facebook Watch anymore, so they’ll need to find other alternatives to keep track of their favorite video content. The sad news is brought by 9to5Mac, and users are already seeing the change.
You can still use Facebook’s website to watch videos
A simple solution to the lack of support for Facebook Watch on Apple TV is to simply head over to the Facebook website to keep watching your favorite videos. You’ll still get to find relevant footage from pretty much all areas you’re interested in. That’s precisely the advice that appears on the Facebook Watch app when a user tries to run it on tvOS.
In a thread posted on MacRumors, a user reveals what message he received when trying to access the Facebook Watch app for Apple TV:
The Facebook Watch TV app is no longer available, but you can still find lots of videos on Facebook at www.facebook.com/watch.
We get it: you were used to opening Facebook Watch on your phone or laptop through the aforementioned link once in a blue moon, as it looks a lot better on Apple TV. But now you have the chance to do it more often! Running the browser version of the app on a smaller display can also be a lot of fun. It will be the same content as it was on Apple TV, after all.
Surprisingly enough, you can still get the Facebook Watch app from Apple’s App Store.
