Fortnite Chapter 4 has finally been released, and it adds Unreal Engine 5.1 support to the game. This marks a huge jump in visuals and performance, bringing the game to the most advanced gaming engine to date. The new engine allows for more real-time lighting effects and PBR (Physically Based Rendering) shading, providing a more realistic in-game experience. Additionally, the game will now have the ability to render complex 3D geometries, with increased detail in meshes and textures. Players will also benefit from all the other new features added in Chapter 4, like the new Battle Pass and Season 4’s storyline.
A host of new weapons have also been added and some long-time favorites have been refreshed with new models and textures. With the addition of the new season, many of the game’s maps are now getting a complete overhaul. This includes massive adjustments to existing guns and weapons. The game’s developers have also made a few adjustments to the way gameplay itself works. This can be seen in the way gunplay is handled, as the game now takes into account more realistic tips when aiming and shooting.
This makes it much more difficult to hit distant shots. The developers also reduced the shooting range of some crow weaponry, and made it so there’s much more emphasis placed on cover.
The Unreal Engine 5.1 upgrade signifies a major shift in the industry of gaming, and Fortnite is the first major title to make use of the new engine. This puts the game in line with the cutting-edge of graphics and performance, and players should expect an even more intense battle royale experience from now on.
