Scaramouche, the Anemo-wielding Peregrinus, joins recent additions Faruzan and Kaveh in the spotlight. Genshin Impact update 3.3 will feature Scaramouche as a brand new Anemo-wielding 5-star character, as well as a new character named Faruzan.
These two new characters were announced by Hoyoverse, the game’s developer. Each of them uses Anemo. This indicates that Faruzan will be an allied four-star unit under the banner of Scaramouche, a five-star hero.
Roughly two years ago, nearly shortly after the introduction of the game, Scaramouche was added to Genshin Impact through a storyline event that is now gone. Then, he played a pivotal role as one of the Fatui Harbingers in the Inazuma 2.0 plot. The roughly 100,000 shares that his English Twitter announcement picked up in just a few hours show that despite Scaramouche’s limited gameplay presence, he has gradually built up a massive and evidently ravenous fan base.
Update 3.2’s preview webcast revealed that one form of Scaramouche, like Tartaglia, the sole other playable Harbinger, will eventually be a weekly boss encounter. Without giving too much away, it appears that the events of Sumeru have affected the Wanderer’s Vision, the elemental powers conferred by the gods, and therefore his skills, as evidenced by his newfound Anemo powers, despite the fact that he has always wielded Electro powers up until this point.
Those who believe cast the gods in glory, while unbelievers witness how gods transcend. But as for him, I will not characterize him as either. All uncertainties are but foundations for his future path.
Faruzan, who we have never met, is just described as an “enigmatic machinist,” so we know even less about her. It is revealed that she wrote most of the content found in the “Introduction to Ancient Machines,” a book released almost a century ago. Faruzan is described in greater detail in a post from Hoyoverse; she is presented as a brilliant engineer who is well-known among local Sumeru students and fondly referred to as “Madam” by those seeking classes in mechanics.
Madam Faruzan’s explanations are simple to understand yet insightful, and her in-depth knowledge really makes people wonder if she had a hand in writing the syllabus. Her guidance will help resolve the most daunting problems, though there remain two problems that all students must overcome on their own:
The first is how to hide their surprise when they see her youthful appearance.
The second is to refrain from asking her why she has been shunned in Haravatat despite having such erudition, and whether she should consider joining Kshahrewar.
Since Sumeru’s tale thus far has focused heavily on the university, it’s likely that we’ll keep running into fresh faces in the classroom even after the Archon storyline in the region closes in update 3.2.
Genshin Impact’s Japanese Twitter account also made a stealthy announcement about a third character, Kaveh. As of right now, all we have is the name of Kaveh’s Japanese voice actor, Yuuma Uchida, who has acted in shows like Banana Fish and Jujutsu Kaisen. While it appears that Kaveh won’t be available in the 3.3 update, he may still make an appearance in quests or maybe become playable in a later patch.

A third tweet from the official Genshin Impact account indicates that the previously mentioned, permanent in-game TCG Genius Invokation will be released alongside update 3.3. With today’s update, we now get our first look at various card designs for the PvE-focused game, which allows players to confront other characters in the world. Collectors of trading cards should find a new obsession in Genius Invokation, as it appears to have characters, bosses, weaponry, and even meals from a variety of countries.
