This is the most recent Pixel Feature Drop, and not just any drop; it’s the biggest one ever. So then, let’s get down to business. Owners of a Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro can get VPN by Google One for free with the December Pixel Feature Drop. The VPN is “designed to assist in eliminating the possibility of any individual pieces of your network activity being linked back to you,” including by Google. This service was formerly free for Google One Platinum users with 2TB of storage or more, and is now available to all Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro owners. Nevertheless, the VPN can be accessed through the Google One app.
Now, Android’s Settings feature a single security and privacy area with action cards at the top to alert you to potential threats and provide simple solutions. Then, the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro’s Clear calling feature improves the quality of the other caller’s speech and minimizes background noise, allowing you to have a crystal-clear conversation with them while being in a noisy environment.
The Pixel Recorder now separates out different speakers in a recording by highlighting their names and inserting line breaks whenever a new speaker is added. Machine learning performs all of this in real time as you record, and you can always go back and manually re-label speakers if necessary.
Fitbit’s Sleep Profile is coming to the Pixel Watch, and it will work with a Fitbit Premium account. For the first six months after purchasing a Pixel Watch, this is included at no additional cost, but after that, it costs ten pounds per month.
Sleep Profile provides a comprehensive analysis of your sleeping habits, including duration, consistency, and interruption, and assigns you an animal that best represents your sleeping habits. Every month, your results will adapt to your unique metrics. Wearing your Pixel Watch to bed for at least 14 nights per month is required for this feature to work, with results available on the first of the following month. You would better keep a spare battery on hand.
