Fans of the Grand Theft Auto series were ecstatic when Rockstar Games announced in February of this year that it is really developing a new installment in the series. Rockstar has been linked to the next installment of the popular game series for a long time now.
While GTA fans had already been convinced of this, the publisher’s statement lent further credence to the suspicions. Despite widespread anticipation, the developer has yet to reveal any additional information about the game. Unofficial stories, leaks, and speculation kept fans busy as Rockstar remained mum about GTA 6.
The company’s social media activities have given the impression that Rockstar is deliberately teasing fans regarding the highly anticipated game. Over the course of a couple of months, fans managed to get their hands on some gameplay footage taken from the game’s development. A leaker exposed more than 90 recordings showing the game in various stages of development. These clips hinted to the possibility of a female lead character in Grand Theft Auto 6.
Moreover, it provided hints regarding the game’s background. However, Rockstar Games acknowledged confirm it had had a “network intrusion” and was unable to provide a direct response to the leaks.
New tweets
Even though we don’t know anything for sure just yet, Rockstar Games could be getting ready to announce something big very soon. On Reddit, user timothybrooks7 discovered that the official Rockstar Games Twitter account had retweeted a fan-posted photograph.
Opened my Mailbox to “Rockstar games tweeted” and saw the sky and palm trees and my heart dropped…. Then I saw #GTAV. I really feel like they’re just toying with us now. from GTA6
Comet S2 was the main attraction in this picture, but a pink sunset was also visible in the distance. Because of this, many GTA fans assumed that the palm trees in the background indicated a tropical location for GTA6. They say Vice City will play a major role in GTA 6’s setting.
An alternate fan base proposed an alternate explanation. It was a fun screenshot, so they figured RockstarGames would retweet it. A sizable subset of fans, however, persists in thinking that Rockstar’s sharing or re-sharing of these posts is part of a strategy leading up to some sort of huge reveal.
