A reputable GTA insider provided an update regarding the release date of Rockstar’s upcoming entry to the Grand Theft Auto franchise, GTA 6.
However, the news is very disappointing if you were hoping to play the game anytime soon.
Rockstar hasn’t even officially revealed that the game is indeed under development, but it is safe to say that it has been under constant development over the past few years.
Most “big” AAA games part of a franchise are launched every three or four years, but Rockstar seems to be the company that doesn’t stick to that pattern. We are used to seeing Rockstar take its sweet time to release new games, and a new report from Tom Henderson seems to confirm that is exactly what they are doing with GTA 6.
Henderson mentioned that the game is “several years away”:
GTA V is generating around a quarter of a billion dollars in revenue each quarter.
Epic Games introducing GTA V for free in addition to the pandemic has resulted in GTA V earning more each quarter now since its launch in 2013.

That is very important news because some Take-Two Interactive financials recently got some enthusiasts excited that the game isn’t too far away.
Still, this is what the update claims.
Henderson didn’t provide any additional information, thus leaving lots of space for extra assumptions, mainly the fact that it’s unknown if we are “years away” from the game’s announcement or its release. That detail is significant because, when it comes to Rockstar Games, a game is launched some two years after it is announced.
However, there is some hope in store for us, as we recommend that you take the information with a grain of salt, as is the case with leaks and speculations of this sort.
Since we are talking about such an important title like GTA 6, it’s only normal that leaks and rumours are piling up constantly, and it makes sense that a great bunch of that information is made up or inaccurate.
