Let’s face it: getting the right food into your stomach isn’t easy. There’s a lot of information to take into account if you want to eat as healthy as possible. That’s why we’re here to help you out with some important news brought by Dr. Uma Naidoo.
Dr. Naidoo is a nutritional psychiatrist, and she explains via CNBC.com what foods she avoids in order to stay free from feeling stressed and tired:
Processed foods
Inflammation of the brain could kick in if you consume unhealthy processed foods. These foods have too many refined and added sugars, which are not good for the brain since they can add too much glucose there.
Industrial seed oils
Certain oils can become dangerously high in inflammatory omega-6 fatty acids and lack omega-3 that can work against inflammation. Those who consume meals that are high in omega-6 fatty acids are more likely to deal with depression compared to the individuals who rely more on omega-3s.
Refined and added sugars
If you consume foods rich in added and refined sugars, you could deal with anxiety and even unstable mood levels. This is because these sugars are able to give the body more of this substance than it needs.
Fried food
A study from 2016 made upon hundreds of people revealed that those who consume more fried foods had higher chances of dealing with depression.
Artificial sweeteners
Many artificial sweeteners can play a role in making a person deal with depression. Dr. Naidoo also reminds us about a study showing that individuals who consume such foods will be more depressed.
There are perhaps many more foods that could be added to the list, but we’re glad to see what the doctor had to say about the subject.
