Connecticut has a total of over 363,000 infections and more than 8,300 deaths caused by COVID-19 since the very first outbreak of the virus, according to worldometers.info. The American state is far behind much harder-hit states such as California, Texas, Florida, or New York.

Even under these circumstances, health officials are urging pregnant women to get vaccinated for COVID-19, according to NBCConnecticut.com. They are invoking CDC’s latest advice on the matter.

Many pregnant women suffered from COVID

Dr. Adam Borgida, who is chief of obstetrics and gynaecology from Hartford Hospital, declared as quoted by NBCConnecticut.com:

I’ve seen pregnant women get COVID-19, get extremely sick, be in the hospital, be on a ventilator, and have very poor outcomes.

Borgida also added as cited by the same publication:

The number of patients we’ve had on ventilators in pregnancy in the last year and a half is more than I’ve seen in 20 years.

If Borgita’s claims aren’t terrifying enough, you should see what Deidre Gifford has to say as quoted by NBCConnecticut.com, who is Acting Public Health Commissioner:

They’re about 3 times more likely to need an ICU or a ventilator when they’re pregnant.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently announced that COVID vaccines are safe and effective for those women who are pregnant and also for their babies. The Government agency recommended on its website for pregnant women to get vaccinated, and it also said that these people are at an increased risk of severe illness with the coronavirus.

Feel free to tell us in the comment section your own opinion on the matter! Would you receive a COVID vaccine if you’re pregnant? Or do you consider avoiding to get vaccinated? We are glad to read as many comments as possible!
