If you’re one of those numerous Dragon Ball fans who have a problem with Dragon Ball Super, you might be delighted by what the ending of Dragon Ball Daima had to offer us. The show that turned Goku and the gang into kids ended back in February in a pretty surprising way. While fans of the classic Dragon Ball stuff were expecting something else than new hair colors, those who are more into the modern Dragon Ball trend surely liked the ending of Daima.
As you’ve probably already guessed, this article contains spoilers. GO BACK IF YOU DON’T WISH TO BE SPOILED!
How SSJ4 Goku in Daima changes everything
Dragon Ball Daima surprised everyone by including the Super Saiyan 4 transformation for Goku. That’s a classic form that happens much later in the overall Dragon Ball timeline – in Dragon Ball GT, to be more precise. But the writers including it in Daima practically made the entire Dragon Ball Super series non-canon for a simple reason: there’s no trace of SSJ4 Goku in Super! We have Super Saiyan Blue Goku, Super Saiyan God Goku, Ultra Instinct Goku, and so on. But no Super Saiyan 4 Goku! And considering that Dragon Ball Super’s story is positioned after the events from Daima in the overall Dragon Ball timeline, it makes perfect sense that Super practically becomes non-canon.
Perhaps it’s time for many Dragon Ball fans to finally acknowledge that there’s no actual sense in looking for a clear consistency in the Dragon Ball franchise anymore. Since Dragon Ball doesn’t take itself seriously anymore and has become just a fan-service franchise, why would we take it too seriously?
Overall, perhaps Dragon Ball Daima was indeed a decent show. It brought a few new and interesting concepts, such as the Demon Realm, the transformation of the Z warriors into kids by a demon, and so on. The future of Dragon Ball will surely bring new stuff soon enough!
