Microsoft has some good news for Windows 10 users. After the release of Windows 11, the new version will become available for everyone who already has 10 installed on their computers, and it will be completely free. At the moment, there is no official release date for it. Still, it is most likely that the new software will be released around the holiday season this year, and many are anticipating a release that expands into the beginning of 2022.
In order to install Windows 11, you will have to go through the same steps you usually do when updating Windows 10. However, users need to check for compatibility first, a feature that will soon become available on the Microsoft website. Meanwhile, you can already check the minimum system requirements on the official site. If your computer is not compatible, but you can purchase a new one and still be eligible for the new version.
For those who don’t want to wait any longer, Windows Insider Program membership does offer a chance to download Windows 11 right away. It is worth noting that this is not the final version, and users might encounter some bugs. Nonetheless, this provides the opportunity to test out all the new features of Windows 11. Moreover, if you are not a member yet, you can sign up for free right away. Remember, however, that this version is the beta one and might have some bugs, and for this reason, it is recommended that you use a tester device for it. More than that, the public will also receive a beta version which might be more stable.
Once Windows is released, users will be able to install it by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and then select Check for Updates.
