Nothing co-founder and CEO Carl Pei confirmed yesterday that the Nothing Phone (2) will be given a full release in the United States, which was a huge piece of news. While the release of the Nothing Ear 2 has already been announced and is set for 2023, it seems likely that we will see the release of yet another new Nothing gadget that year (1). Although Pei has been tight-lipped regarding the ear buds, recent leaks have provided a clearer look at the product in advance of its introduction. The Ear (1) were among the finest wireless earbuds released in 2018; furthermore, they didn’t break the bank at only $100. Therefore, the new leak is exciting news for all Nothing fans.
The renderings were published on the Smartprix website, but they were created by Onleaks, a source with a solid reputation for leaking information and images of unreleased hardware before of official unveilings. A cursory examination of the images reveals that the earbuds’ layout is the same as the current model’s, with a transparent design that reveals the earbuds’ inner workings. Further, it is packaged in a square case made of transparent plastic with red and white detailing.
The Smartprix crew noticed that the microphone at the top of the earbuds has been relocated closer to the stalk and that there are certain design aspects that alter the appearance somewhat via the use of transparency in various parts of the headphones. Above, you can see them highlighted to get a better sense.
Although fresh renderings of unreleased products are exciting since they provide us a glimpse of what’s to come, there is sadly not much more information about the device’s specs. If Nothing is working on a new version of the Ear (1), it is likely that it will have some upgrades and improvements over the original.
