It’s been five years since the debut of Injustice 2, and the game has been a huge success. NetherRealm, on the other hand, has kept quiet on Injustice 3’s launch date. As of now, Mortal Kombat 11 has been released in 2019, and Injustice 3 should have at least been mentioned. This hasn’t been the case thus far, to our disappointment. With the E3 season just around the corner, we may see a special Warner Bros. event that showcases new titles, including Injustice 3.
Ed Boon, as usual, remains mysterious. He posted this on Twitter a while ago:
Yea, that WAS kind of (unintentionally) kryptic 😂
I was basically saying that (at the moment) we can't work on every game we'd like to make all at the same time. 🥰

As is customary, the hypotheses generated by the community quickly became outlandish. Ed Boon clearly understands how to keep his audience interested. In spite of the fact that it’s not yet obvious whether the next Injustice will be made, there is a desire to continue working on the project.
The release date for Injustice 3 has yet to be determined. According to Giant Bomb’s senior writer Jeff Grubb, there are also no current intentions to make the game’s existence known. Grubb claims that NetherRealm has no intentions to make Injustice 3 but is instead working on Mortal Kombat 12:
It lines up with the reality, and it lines up with what I’ve heard, where Mortal Kombat 12 would make the most sense because that’s a game they know will make money, it will sell well… Mortal Kombat 11 was great, it’s doing well, but if you come out with Mortal Kombat 12 it will also sell and do well.
We know that NetherRealm is working on a new game. Mortal Kombat 11’s support has been halted, and they are now solely working on the next project. It’s anyone’s guess as to what the next endeavor will be. We might see an announcement shortly, followed by a release in a few months if they follow their usual release schedule. There is a debate as to whether they’re working on Mortal Kombat 12 or Injustice 3. Potentially, the corporation might surprise us with a whole new project.
