If there’s one thing we all agree about when it comes to social network apps, it’s that their best interest is to keep you using them as much as possible. It is believed that professional psychologists were debating how to make those apps as addictive as possible before the whole development process itself began.
It’s understandable and not to blame, however. That’s how businesses work, in general: they want as many customers as they can gather and keep them satisfied by all means. But Instagram had shocked many people a while ago when developers decided to include an option for the users to limit their own time while using the app. They could set to use the app for just two hours, for instance, before starting to scroll. After two hours of scrolling were done, the app stopped. This was seen as a great tool for those deciding to lay it low with social media or even quit in a progressive way.
As for now, the developers made up their minds a bit.
Instagram quietly removes the option to limit the time spent on the app to less than half an hour per day
TechCrunch.com is the publication bringing the news that Instagram no longer gives its users the possibility of limiting their time spent on the app itself to less than 30 minutes per day. The move was completely unexpected, but it will surely receive some critics. Instead, the famous social network advises users to set a three-hour limit.
Otherwise, Instagram remains a highly-trusted social app, as it counts roughly one billion users that are active every month. Statistics also show that roughly 995 photos are being uploaded to the Facebook-owned app every second, according to WebSiteBuilder.org.
