There have already been some reports that photos of iPhone 14 dummy units have been leaked. After having a look at the back sides of the four models, (including both vanilla and Pro iPhones) the week before, it is now time to have a more in-depth look at the rear.
Taking into consideration how large the camera hump is in comparison to the rest of the device, it seems likely that this is an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Once again, the information that is shown on the front (or lack thereof) is of more relevance to us.
The notch will no longer be present on iPhone Pro devices starting with this generation. It will be substituted with a split punch hole, sometimes known as the “pill and hole” design. The larger part is the Face ID technology, which requires an IR illuminator as well as an IR camera, while the smaller piece is the new FaceTime camera.
This year, the gap between the iPhone Pro and the standard iPhone will be wider than it has ever been. Not only will the Pros become the only ones to have access to the telephoto camera, but they would also be the only ones to have a primary camera that has a resolution of 48 megapixels and the only ones to get an update to the Apple A16 processor. According to the estimates of experts, the base models will continue to use rear cameras with a resolution of 12 megapixels and the A15 processor. The refresh rate of the screens on the vanilla versions, which may or may not include a 120Hz option, is another point of contention. The vanilla models will not get the new “pill and hole” design on the front of the device.
According to current projections, the “pill and hole” design will become standard on the iPhone 15 vanilla versions. It is anticipated that future iPhones will begin relocating part of the hardware beneath the display, and this transition might begin as early as 2024. Predictions for the far future are not likely to be particularly accurate.
