iPhone 14’s Emergency SOS via Satellite Becomes Available in More Countries

Apple

Apple’s new iPhone 14 lineup that was launched back in September brought plenty of interesting new functionalities, but perhaps the most important one is the Emergency SOS via Satellite feature that could truly be life-saving in case the user goes through a car accident.

Apple is finally starting to roll out the feature for European countries after it was initially available only for customers who live in North America. The feature in question is even free of charge during the first two years of usage, which means that you practically don’t have anything to lose if you put it to the test.

The UK, Germany, France, and Ireland now get iPhone 14’s life-saving feature

If you live in either the UK, Germany, France, or Ireland and you have an iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Pro at home, it means that the new Emergency SOS via Satellite feature should arrive to you at any time.

Not having WiFi or cellular signal should never represent a problem anymore if you want to reach the emergency services, as long as you have iPhone 14’s new feature up and running.

The big announcement comes straight from Apple itself, so there’s no room for doubt:

Apple’s groundbreaking safety service Emergency SOS via satellite is available starting today for customers in France, Germany, Ireland, and the UK. Available on all iPhone 14 models, the innovative technology enables users to message with emergency services while outside of cellular and Wi-Fi coverage. Additionally, if users want to reassure friends and family of their whereabouts while traveling in an area with no cellular or Wi-Fi coverage, they can now open the Find My app and share their location via satellite.

Some users have even been complaining about their new iPhone 14 devices mistakingly reaching the emergency services after they’ve only been on rollercoaster rides, but we can hope that the problem has gone away due to Apple’s recent iOS 16 1.2 update.
