For Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy S22, and other Samsung phones, the July 2022 security update will be available. On the first Monday of every month, the Android Security Bulletin is released. Nevertheless, on July 4th, the United States celebrated its Independence Day holiday. The publication of the July 2022 ASB has thus been pushed back by a few days, to today. The Android Security Bulletin and Pixel Update Bulletin for July have been released by Google. The update is currently being sent to the Google Pixel smartphones that are eligible for it. Many Samsung devices, including the Galaxy S22, have already begun getting a fresh batch of updates.
Android Security Update Bulletin for July 2022
There are a number of weaknesses in the Android Framework, documented in the Android Security Bulletin for July 2022. In a tabular style, Google provides the CVE numbers as well as information on the vulnerability kind, threat level, and OS version/component impacted. As of the 2022-07-01 security update, 12 Android Framework & system parts flaws have been addressed, while the remaining 21 kernel and components flaws have been corrected with the 2022-07-05 update.
Bulletin of Pixel and Functional Changes
The SQ3A.220705.003.A1 software update is now available for Pixel 4 and Pixel 4a users, as well as Pixel 5 and Pixel 5a users. The worldwide build number for the Pixel 6 series is SQ3A.220705.003, while the Verizon one is SQ3A.220705.003.A1, and the EMEA/APAC model number is SQ3A.220705.001.B1. This month’s Android security update is not accompanied by a Pixel Feature Drop, as was the case last month. As far as the Pixel phones are concerned, there are no new features — at least none that Google mentions in the bulletin — other than support for VoLTE calling on some carriers’ networks.
