Lightsabers are back to Fortnite, and we couldn’t be more excited. Whether you love Star Wars or not, you totally need a Lightsaber, especially if you’re going to grab some sweet XP on the run.
We’ve come up with a sleek guide about everything you need to know about Lightsabers in Fortnite, including how to use one.
Where to Find a Lightsaber?
Luckily, finding a Lightsaber is relatively easy. The Star Wars special swords are actually all around the island as floor loot! How cool is that?
Lightsabers are small, but they glow with a golden light so that you can spot them quite easily. They’re also scattered at most POIs, including the recently destroyed Tilted Towers.

Back in the day, when Lightsabers were first introduced to Fortnite, they would appear in special chests dubbed Lightsaber Cubes. Now, it seems that we won’t need that as there’s no sign of something like that.
How to Use a Lightsaber?
First, you should know that Lightsabers are melee weapons in Fortnite. That involves getting close and personal with your enemy to deal any damage (what a bum, right?).
TIP: keep a gun with you, too!
To swing a Lightsaber, use the shoot button (R2 on PS5) while blocking incoming attacks could be done by using the aim button (L2 on PS5) or string some hits together for a combo.
BONUS: there’s a ‘May the 4th’ challenge that has players block hits via a Lightsaber at least 10 times.
Finally, there are four Lightsabers available at the moment in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2, and they are:
- Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber
- Mace Ren’s Lightsaber
- Kylo Ren’s Lightsaber
- Obi-Wan’s Lightsaber
