Good news and bad news for MacBook Air fans. The much-anticipated 15-inch MacBook Air is currently undergoing advanced testing by Apple. According to a recent source, the 15-inch MacBook Air will have the same screen resolution as the 14-inch model. Bloomberg‘s allegation is based on developer logs that have surfaced after the tech giant began testing the new MacBook Air with “third-party apps from the App Store to validate their compatibility.” So, what should we expect next?
Well, let’s just say that things will get interesting. The source claims that even if the screen resolution of the next-gen 15-inch MacBook is the same as that of the 14-inch MacBook Pro, it “would run the same resolution but with slightly less sharpness.” What’s really best is that the new device is said to come with an eight-core CPU with four high-performance cores and four efficiency cores. Quite impressive, isn’t it?!
Now, things may differ, and Apple might choose to go with some different settings. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t make an impression by the latest rumors and reports, right?!
So, currently, it is pretty unclear if that specifically refers to the M2 chip. According to the report, the machine’s performance is “on par with the current M2 chip.” On the other hand, at least some of the M3 chips are anticipated to be produced by the tech giant using a new 3 nm production technique. Such a thing will definitely result in a noticeable increase in effectiveness and performance. I mean, just think for a bit about the current chip and its power and double everything!
However, it’s probable that not all M3 models will utilize 3nm technology. For example, we may see a 5 nm process for the base M3 model and a 3 nm process for the M3 Pro, M3 Max, and M3 Ultra.
As a takeaway, the source also claims that the tech giant based in Cupertino is developing some sleek updated models of the 13-inch MacBook Air, 24-inch iMac, and the 13-inch MacBook Pro, which is the company’s entry-level laptop. The 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros will supposedly receive an upgrade from Apple in the first half of 2024 (yay!).
Unfortunately, there is currently no information available on the precise release date for Apple’s new 15-inch MacBook Air. But all the bets go with a 2024 release event.
