A refreshed 13-inch MacBook Air that adopts a smaller Mini LED display is in the works, and is currently penciled in for a 2022 release, according to reliable sources. Mini LED is a display technology with better contrast and dynamic range than some of its alternatives. It makes its Apple debut on this year’s 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
What will these new features add to the already amazing MacBook Air? Well, for starters, they’ll allow it to charge faster — something that’ll come in useful if you’re working on a laptop outside in the heat of summer or just simply haven’t had the traditional port available for quite some time. MagSafe is expected to be available for the rumored MacBook Air. The technology is said to improve the health of your MacBook by preventing shocks from happening when inserting or removing the unit from a charger.
Rumours of a thinner and lighter design have also circulated for some time now. According to reports, the upcoming MacBook Air will feature a design that makes it easier to port around as well as make it more practical to carry around. Moreover, the laptop will come with two USB 4 ports and it will be powered by a new chip that will bring faster running speeds, as well as more GPU cores. Given the latest reports, it is very likely to see a significant upgrade in design and capabilities.
Apple fans have been holding out for a good release and it appears that the future holds surprises for MacBook users. While nothing is yet confirmed, it is looking more and more likely that we will see two redesigned MacBook Pros in 2021 and a new MacBook Air. What could they bring? Well, as it stands right now there is no evidence that any of these devices will have an Apple silicon chip inside.
