The Mario Kart series has had 14 distinct iterations and this is not including re-releases either!
It is safe to say that since its release, it has grown to be one of the most popular and recognizable titles in videogame history, one better than the other!
With that being said, here are some of the best games in the series!
Mario Kart 64
Mario Kart 64 may appear quite antiquated today, yet it still plays rapidly and has some of the most replayable circuits in the series.
The Nintendo 64 game Mario Kart 64, which made its debut in 1996, sold approximately 10 million copies, making it the second best selling N64 title and securing the series’ future so it definitely deserves the recognition.
Mario Kart 64 also innovated in a variety of other areas in addition to employing completely 3D tracks. The most important of them was undoubtedly 4-player, which is now considered a must for the series.
In an effort to keep races competitive, the so-called rubberband-AI also balanced the difficulties by making the AI karts perform better when the user was also performing well.
Every subsequent Mario Kart game has incorporated this feature.
Mario Kart Arcade GP DX
Mario Kart Arcade GP and Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 were pretty much combined into one game. It has 10 newly developed courses and incorporates elements from Mario Kart 7 such as underwater racing and gliders.
Two players may race against computer-controlled opponents in Team mode.
Similar to Mario Kart Double Dash, the two players may combine their karts to create a more potent kart, with one player controlling and the other acting as the gunner.
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Mario Kart: Double Dash!! garnered mixed reviews when it first came out.
The GameCube only needed another Mario Kart game with improved visuals, according to those who claimed that the formula had been played with too often. But the fourth game in the series, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, included a lot of innovations.
The powerslide has undergone considerable renovations, which could have made it simpler for novices. The boost start and races with two drivers in a single kart are also worth mentioning.
One player would operate the vehicle while the other handled the weapons.
This feature is replicated in Mario Kart Arcade GP DX, as was already mentioned.

Mario Kart DS
Mario Kart DS, a different portable Mario Kart, was a tremendous hit, selling around 25 million units.
It was also the first Nintendo game to allow online gaming in the west.
The upper screen of the Nintendo DS was used for racing in Mario Kart DS, while the bottom was utilized to show the race’s current standings and a course map.
Additionally, it displayed the current arsenals of each racer, including the two brand-new items added for the first time ever.
